Climate Cup 2009 Hovedprisen i Bella Centret

Offentliggjort tirsdag d. 9. september 2000

Let me congratulate all of you who have participated in the competition and been nominated and awarded in different categories. I am confident that your efforts will serve as an inspiration to others.

Creating awareness about the climate challenges we face is important, but it is even more important that we encourage and support the people who develop the right ideas and solutions for a more sustainable future.

Today it is a fact that the climate is changing rapidly – our globe is heating up – the consequences of this change urge us to take action, and the Nordic Climate Solutions conference displays a number of possible solutions to this global challenge. Rewarding those who proactively engage in creating a more climate friendly environment, as the Climate Cup awards do, is thus very commendable.

Royal Awards for Sustainability promote sustainable development by rewarding excellent performance and best practice. This goes hand in hand with the purpose of the Climate Cup awards. I am therefore very pleased that Royal Awards for Sustainability and the Climate Cup partners have joined forces and decided to present a Main Award as part of this year’s Climate Cup competition.

When selecting the winner of the Main Award, the panel of judges had to consider that the organisation’s efforts should not only benefit our climate and the organisation itself, but should also create value to society in a broader sense.

With that in mind, I am delighted to announce that the winner of the Climate Cup Main Award is:

Stirling DK

With its technology, Stirling DK can, as we heard earlier, convert low-value biomass, such as wood chips and straw, into high-value, clean, CO2-neutral electricity and heat. Stirling DK is not only the winner of the Climate Cup Innovation Award, but also of the Climate Cup Main Award.

According to the panel of judges, Stirling DK has demonstrated a major effort in terms of developing solutions which will help cool the planet. The company holds a major potential as part of the future’s energy solution, and it has the potential to grow and be one of Denmark’s new clean-tech giants.

I would like to invite Stirling DK’s CEO, Lars Jadg, to enter the stage.

Congratulations!
